do well in school...doesn't anyone learn about adverbs these days?
Speaking as a parent, I can assure you that you wouldn't ever "make" me buy it. You would earn the privilege of online play, and I could see the game being a reward for academic achievement.

Why don't you use christmas or birthday money and buy it yourself? or depending on when your next birthday is you could ask for it.

Poor choice of words....you cannot "make" your parents buy you a video game, especially with that attitude about it.
How about offering a deal. You'll do extra chores around the house for some money (above and beyond the standard keeping your room clean and picking up after yourself).
Just because you're only 14 does not mean you can't earn the money some other way. Do you have neighbors who could use some help around the house or yard for a couple bucks? If you do well in school, perhaps offering yourself as a tutor for a set price.

ok, heres what you do. You get the dog, you lock it in the garage and leave a ransom note. Call from a payphone (disguise your voice) and threaten that fluffy will get it unless they agree to pay the ransom of fifty dollars american currency to an over seas account in Switzerland. When that has been verified, you let fluffy out and claim ignorance to the whole ordeal

That works pretty well
Do tricks for money, like...
-Dancing. It's free to do. Popping and locking with breakdancing usually gets the money flowing in. Takes practice and time though
-Mad skills with a bike
-Magic tricks. Pre-requisite? None .
-Enter a Video Gaming competition. Those usually require free - $5 - $10 and some skill. Skill is a must.
-Go get a Yu-gi-oh deck and enter in a Tourney. Find your nearest toys r' us and find out when tournaments are. Easy booster packs; sell them to parents for a few bucks. You get about 6 for every tourney you win. Booster Packs are $5 each at retail.
-Artwork. Then sell them.
-Play an instrument in a band. Enter in a battle of the bands competition. Then try to win.
-Sell your Guild Wars money? You can try, but you'd be at risk.
-Scamming your local stores. Often referred to as the skill, Persuasion. Looked down upon in many societies. Do this at your own risk.
I can't think of anything else. Good luck.

The kids that sold homework in high school were the saddest most pathetic people I've ever met. Most of the time people didn't even pay them.
